E-project 2012

Each year in Room 8, Mrs Reynolds completes a project for the school environment with her class.
This year, we decided to make another set of house murals to go with the set that is nearby the hall.

We were split into small groups, and together we designed a mural that represented our houses: Kowhai, Miro, Rimu and Totara.

Things got a bit crazy with other events at school which meant that we had to have a intense week of painting our murals to make sure we got them done before the end of term!

Everyone worked very hard on the murals and we are very proud of our work.
Mr Whittaker will seal them and they will be placed on the grass as you come into the main school entrance. We hope that you enjoy seeing them as much as we will!

This term we have been working on some safety and disaster projects.

Each reading group in the classroom had different things to complete. Some people worked on their own and others worked in pairs.
Reading groups had to make a poster about how to keep safe in a particular event and others researched about disasters.

Researching and making these posters was fun and hard work at times! We found pictures on the internet that we could use, we used google to find information that would help us and we read about our topics in books.

Here are some pictures of the completed posters...

Cross Country...

Today we had our school corss country. This is where the year 3-6's run the cross country - they run a route around the school and in the neighbouring roads, running back into the school grounds and through the rugby posts to finish!
Cross country is a lot of fun and a lot of hard work! We have training for the cross country along with the seniors and it is great to put it into action!

The year 3 and 4 boys run together and the year 3 and 4 girls run together.
Congratulations to Essendon, Riley L and Helena who took on the challenge to race against the year 5's!
There are some speedy year 3's who will have the choice to run against the year 5's next year!

Also a big congratualtions to Essendon who cam 1st out of all the year 5's! He gave Nathan a very good run for his money and it paid off!!!

Essenson will be joining the other year 5 and 6's who made it through to the inter school cross country next year. He is the only year 4 to make it through. We are very proud of him!

Mrs Reynolds was stationed on the corner of Wharf Rd and took photos as the room 8 people came along!

Yesterday (Wednesday 24th October) we had a special concert by the band "The Nukes".
The Nukes are a 3 piece band that play ukuleles. The whole school went to the concert in the hall. It was so much fun!!! the Nukes write their own songs and they are very easy to clap and dance along to. They were very entertaining and very funny!!

We recommend that you look them up on youtube... We are sure that you will like them too!
